WHAT TO EXPECT
Before your massage
Unless there is a treatment room in your chalet, your masseur or masseuse will bring their own table, towels, oils and music, so you can fully relax in the comfort of your own accommodation. They will need a suitable place to set up (usually a bedroom), which you will need to prepare prior to their arrival. Our tables are roughly 80 x 180cm and your practitioner will need space to move around it.
To make the most of your appointment please make sure you give us as much information as possible about how to access your accommodation, and listen out for door when your therapist arrives (or check your phone). They will arrive a few minutes prior to the start of the appointment to set up the table. If you have a group booking, make sure you organise your schedules in advance so everyone is ready for their massages. It is best for all the massages to take place in the same room, so as not to lose out on massage time.
Make sure you drink enough water before the appointment and avoid heavy meals.
During your massage
If you have booked a 30 min appointment, you can expect a focused massage, usually on either the legs or the back, neck and shoulders. With a 60 - 90 min appointment you can enjoy a full body massage. Remember that the length of the appointment will include the consultation and preparation time.
On arrival, your practitioner will ask a few questions about your health and discuss your treatment and needs. They will be tailoring the massage to suit you, so this is a good time to let them know any specific requirements you have as well as your preferences in terms of pressure, body areas, music and oils.
You will be asked to remove clothing to your level of comfort. Ideally you want to be wearing just your underwear and remove your bra, however your modesty will always be maintained. Make sure you wear underwear that can be easily pushed aside to access the glutes and that any oil can be easily washed out. The practitioner will step out of the room or screen you with a towel while you settle on the table and cover yourself with the towel provided.
During the massage, your masseur or masseuse will only uncover the areas of your body they are working on. Just let them know if you would like them to adjust the pressure or focus more on any specific areas. We want you to feel wonderful, and communication is key. Remember to breathe deeply, so you can really relax and enjoy the experience! Your practitioner will keep talking to a minimum, so you can really make the most of the massage.
After your massage
After your massage your practitioner will step out the room, leaving you in privacy to get dressed again. It is important to drink plenty of water after the massage to help flush through any toxins and stay hydrated. You will also have better effects if you limit alcohol intake after the massage. The oil has wonderful benefits for the skin and hair and can be left on. Try to take it gently and give your body time to adjust. And above all make the most of your increased sense of relaxation and wellbeing!
